Alright, we are talking about off road trails near Reno, NV.  Last Warning, the off road trails mentioned are Jeep trails and 4x4 trails large/wide enough to fit a passenger vehicle - no ATVs or dirtbikes talked about here.  The first off road trail near Reno, Nevada  is Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest/Peavine OHV Area located 10 miles E of Reno for a drivetime of 15 minutes.  Peavine Mountain is located adjacent to northwest Reno, NV. This area provides a multitude of trail opportunities, as well as additional opportunities on dirt roads. The trails range in mileage and some loop trails are available. Several trailheads exist to access the Peavine Mountain area, including; East Keystone, West Keystone, Kings Row, Hoge Road, Raleigh Heights, and Horizon Hills. However; one of the most popular trailheads to access the area and the popular Halo Trail is the East Keystone Trailhead. This area also has a multitude of single track trail opportunities for all levels of mountain bike riders, as well as additional opportunities on dirt roads. The next offroad trail near Reno, NV is the Verdi Peak OHV Route located 28 miles SW of Reno for a drivetime of 30 minutes. To access this route, take the Hirschdale exit off Interstate 80 and head north to Boca Reservoir. The first point of entry is 2 miles north of the freeway. This takes you to roads on Boca Ridge, ending up on Verdi Peak Road. These roads are moderately difficult and provide good views of Boca and Stampede Reservoirs and the Sierra crest. From Verdi Peak, the Nevada landscape and the City of Reno are visible.
