Alright, we are talking about off road trails near Phoenix, Arizona.  Last Warning, the off road trails mentioned are Jeep trails and 4x4 trails large/wide enough to fit a passenger vehicle - no ATVs or dirtbikes talked about here.  The first off road trail near Phoenix, AZ is Belmont Mountain Trail located 35 miles W of Phoenix for a drivetime of approximately forty five minutes. This trail takes between 2-4 hours to complete. It is a fairly easy trail in which crosses wide-open farmland as it weaves its way towards Belmont Mountain. It climbs towards numerous remnants and mines around the Mountain before ending at Vulture Mine road, offering plenty to be explored. Because the staging for this trail is so far into the trail, other vehicles will be traveling about 5 miles more to get to the CAP where the trail “officially” starts. The trail will eventually cross a wash and as it begins to climb it will become rockier. The right side of the trail is heavily eroded, so make sure to stay as far left as possible to avoid any unnecessary challenge. The hill isn’t hard but clearance and careful tire placement makes it easier. You can see what other wheelers are saying about Belmont Mountain Trail and other trails by visiting the Where2Wheel trails map here.

The next offroad trail near Phoenix, AZ is Queen Valley & Montana Mountain located 54 miles E of Phoenix for a drivetime of approximately fifty five minutes. This trail was featured in Arizona Highways magazine in 2013 and has become quite popular since then. It is located in the Superstition Mountains where it is rumored that old treasure maps and hidden gold are buried. It is quite challenging and has very diverse terrain so make sure to check it out before you go and/or take a wheeling friend. It is a narrow trail up the mountain with multiple river crossings, and it generally takes a little over 4 hours to complete with stops for enjoying the views; so be prepared with food and water. Reminder, you can browse the offroad trails map anytime for free on Where2Wheel.  There is a good chance that since writing this article that new off road trails near Phoenix, AZ have been added, so click here to view the W2W map and check the area for yourself.

The last offroad trail near Phoenix, AZ is Black Canyon OHV Trail located 59 miles N of Phoenix for a drivetime of approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. The trail winds through the mountains between Black Canyon City and Table Mesa Recreation Area. This trail ranges from easy to moderate, so it is recommended to travel with a group that has different experience levels. Some of the rock obstacles are pretty large, even potentially larger than alot of hub heights. This trail is not well known so you will get the full offroading experience here!
