Alright, we are talking about off road trails near Portland, Oregon.  Last Warning, the off road trails mentioned are Jeep trails and 4x4 trails large/wide enough to fit a passenger vehicle - no ATVs or dirtbikes talked about here.  The first off road trail near Portland, OR is Brown's Camp Staging Area located 42 miles W of Portland for a drivetime of approximately fifty one minutes. This trail is located in the Tillamook Forest, a campground that primarily serves ATV riders that flock to the area for the off highway trails. The campground is setup in a loop style to make it easy for campers pulling haulers to get in and out while avoiding riders. It is a gravel road through the camp and there is potable water. Most sites offer limited privacy and if you are not here to ride an ATV or take your 4X4 rig through the woods, you are probably going to hate this campground. You can see what other wheelers are saying about Brown's Camp Staging Area and other trails by visiting the Where2Wheel trails map here.

The next offroad trail near Portland, OR is Cedar Tree located 43 miles W of Portland for a drivetime of approximately fifty four minutes. This 4 mile trail varies from moderate to very difficult in winter months. It starts at the end of University Power Rd, however this trail is fairly narrow and winds through the trees. Cedar Tree is not the best place for full size rigs. Reminder, you can browse the offroad trails map anytime for free on Where2Wheel.  There is a good chance that since writing this article that new off road trails near Portland, OR have been added, so click here to view the W2W map and check the area for yourself.
