Hey Hopkins, working on my axle swap. Is there any special trick or code for the discount at 4 Wheel Parts?
HopkinsHey Steve, hope youre doing well and Happy New Year! 4WP likes to advertise XX% off site wide, but I have never found that to be true. Usually you can only find a couple items on their site on discount. Sorry if you were mislead by that ad; I actually took that ad off the site yesterday. Haha I wish I had a discount code I could give ya.1 year ago
4.3LXJOh well, it was worth a try. Been working on my rear D44 axle. I have all the brackets welded on for three link, WJ rear brakes mounted and ready to go. Just got a Detroit Super 44 locker for it and carrier bearings. Set up shims on the way. Looking into fitting JK Rubicon gears in the standard case. Hoping to end up with a baby 60 without that huge pumpkin acting like a land anchor1 year ago
HopkinsThat sounds like a really cool way to build a D44. Should be bulletproof under the lightweight XJ! Rubi gears are 4.10s IIRC. Running 35s or 33s for tires?1 year ago
4.3LXJHeaded for 40s. Going to use a very late model LT1 engine that is designed to shut down 4 cyl and cruise at 1400 rpm. Might be able to afford a trip to Virginia Beach 1 year ago
4.3LXJHere is some eye candy for you. A diff cover I made that hooks into the truss
Hopkins40s!?! Dang, you are going big time! Haha 40s on an XJ might as well be monster truck tires! I see why you need the extra beef in the axles now. That's a badass build that you are bringing together. I thinks the LT1 is gonna have a bit more torques than the 4.3L haha. I've never seen anyone connect the diff cover into the truss like that - cool thinking. Do you already have the engine? And what vehicle is it coming from?1 year ago
4.3LXJYeah, hopefully this is the last build I have to do on this rig. Not sure where the engine is coming from yet. There is a few things that have to come together for this. For instance fuel pressure is 2,100#, so that is going to be a major redo for direct injection1 year ago
