In order to keep the offroad community up to date with the latest and most accurate wheeling information, we have created an offroad trails map that covers the entire USA.  The trails map on Where2Wheel is powered by the offroad community and is totally reliant on individual offroaders contributing their knowledge to keep the map up to date and accurate.  So if you do go wheeling on any of these trails, make sure to leave a review on W2W, or make any adjustments to the trail descriptions as needed since trail conditions can, and often do, change frequently.

Alright, we were talking about offroad trails near Tampa, Florida.  Again, last warning, we are talking about Jeep trails and 4×4 trails that are large/wide enough to fit a passenger vehicle – no ATVs or dirtbikes talked about here.  The first offroad trail near Tampa is The Croom Wildlife Management Area which is about 55 miles north of Tampa, FL and the drive to get there from Tampa should take you no longer than an hour and fifteen minutes.  At Croom WMA you can expect sandy trails that often get flooded over after any rain; if the area is dry then don’t expect to need anything more than 2WD, but if there has been some recent rain then expect to be driving through water on most of the trails and use caution because the water can get several feet deep in some spots.  You can see what Where2Wheel members are saying about wheeling in the Croom WMA by visiting the trail listing on Where2Wheel here.

The next offroad trail near Tampa, FL is The Richloam Wildlife Management Area located in the same approximate area as Croom WMA, 55 northeast of Tampa.  Richloam WMA offers more challenging roads than can be found at Croom WMA and Richloam also houses many more trails to explore than can be found at Croom WMA.  Water fording is a given at Richloam and a snorkel or raised intake is a good idea before hitting the trails at Richloam WMA, especially if it has rained recently.   Remember, you can browse the offroad trails map on Where2Wheel.com to find additional trails around the area – W2W is free to access and use!

The last offroad trail that we are going to cover near Tampa is a favorite of Jeep and Toyota clubs in the area because it offers the most extreme offroading of the WMAs in the area,  The Citrus Wildlife Management Area is located 70 miles north of Tampa, Fl and the drive should take about an hour and twenty minutes one way.  There’s a wide variety of trails to take at The Citrus WMA and as with any Florida wheeling, be ready for deep water and sandy terrain.  If you’re looking for more offroad options around, or even closer to Tampa, there are many more Jeep trails and 4×4 trails listed on Where2Wheel, but it’s easier if you visit W2W and view the offroad trails map for yourself.

Lastly, feel free to create an account on Where2Wheel; it’s free to use and you can find other offroaders in your area that you can hit the trails with.  If you do enjoy using W2W and want to support us, please either tell your offroading pals about the site or sign-up for a premium account, which takes ads off the map for just $2.99/month.
