Alright, we were talking about offroad trails near Tampa, Florida.  Again, last warning, we are talking about Jeep trails and 4x4 trails that are large/wide enough to fit a passenger vehicle - no ATVs or dirtbikes talked about here.  The first offroad trail near Tampa is The Croom Wildlife Management Area which is about 55 miles north of Tampa, FL and the drive to get there from Tampa should take you no longer than an hour and fifteen minutes.  At Croom WMA you can expect sandy trails that often get flooded over after any rain; if the area is dry then don't expect to need anything more than 2WD, but if there has been some recent rain then expect to be driving through water on most of the trails and use caution because the water can get several feet deep in some spots.  You can see what Where2Wheel members are saying about wheeling in the Croom WMA by visiting the trail listing on Where2Wheel here.

jeep trails near you

The next offroad trail near Tampa, FL is The Richloam Wildlife Management Area located in the same approximate area as Croom WMA, 55 northeast of Tampa.  Richloam WMA offers more challenging roads than can be found at Croom WMA and Richloam also houses many more trails to explore than can be found at Croom WMA.  Water fording is a given at Richloam and a snorkel or raised intake is a good idea before hitting the trails at Richloam WMA, especially if it has rained recently.   Remember, you can browse the offroad trails map on Where2Wheel.com to find additional trails around the area - W2W is free to access and use!

The last offroad trail that we are going to cover near Tampa is a favorite of Jeep and Toyota clubs in the area because it offers the most extreme offroading of the WMAs in the area,  The Citrus Wildlife Management Area is located 70 miles north of Tampa, Fl and the drive should take about an hour and twenty minutes one way.  There's a wide variety of trails to take at The Citrus WMA and as with any Florida wheeling, be ready for deep water and sandy terrain.  If you're looking for more offroad options around, or even closer to Tampa, there are many more Jeep trails and 4x4 trails listed on Where2Wheel, but it's easier if you visit W2W and view the offroad trails map for yourself.

Off road trails near Miami, Florida - Jeep & 4x4 offroad trails

Want to go offroading near Miami, Florida?

Where2Wheel will help you find offroad trails near you! We exclusively cover Jeep trails, 4x4 trails, truck trails, and OHV trails.  Read along and we will point out offroad places near Miami, FL.

In order to keep the offroad community up to date with the latest and most accurate wheeling information, we have created an offroad trails map that covers the entire USA.  The trails map on Where2Wheel is powered by the offroad community and is totally reliant on individual offroaders contributing their knowledge to keep the map up to date and accurate.  So if you do go wheeling on any of these trails, make sure to leave a review on W2W, or make any adjustments to the trail descriptions as needed since trail conditions can, and often do, change frequently.

Alright, we were talking about offroad trails near Miami, Florida.  Again, last warning, we are talking about Jeep trails and 4x4 trails that are large/wide enough to fit a passenger vehicle - no ATVs or dirtbikes talked about here.  Let me start this offroad trails discussion by saying that South Florida is littered with Wildlife Management Areas and Nature Preserves, so the offroad trails that I will discuss will all be from these publicly accessible areas, but if you are curious about what other offroad options South Florida has beyond WMAs and NPs, then check out the Where2Wheel Offroad Trails Map where you can view all the offroad trails that South Florida has to offer.

The first offroad trail near Miami is The JW Corbett Wildlife Management Area which is 90 miles north of Miami and the drive should take about 90 minutes to get to the JW Corbett WMA.  At JW Corbett WMA you can expect the typical Florida WMA offroad experience of sandy roads and potential for high water; however, JW Corbett has a reputation for having some of the nastiest, muddiest roads of the WMAs, so if you have big tires and a snorkel then you should be in for a good time cruising around JW Corbett WMA.

jeep trails near you

The next offroad trail near Miami, FL is The Bear Island ORV Area inside Big Cypress National Preserve; heading to Bear Island will require an 85 mile drive west of Miami.  A permit that includes a vehicle inspection is required to offroad at Bear Island and you can learn more about the required permit here.  Offroaders have been wheeling inside Big Cypress NP and Bear Island ORV Area for over 100 years now, and Bear Island ORV Area is the last place inside Big Cypress NP that Jeeps and other 4x4s are currently allowed.  Interestingly enough Bear Island, the most NW section of Big Cypress, is the driest part of Big Cypress, so don't be surprised if the roads are in decent condition.  However, this is South Florida and water fording is always a possibility.  To help with the potential for high water, a snorkel or raised intake is a good idea before hitting the trails at Bear Island ORV Area.   Remember, you can browse the offroad trails map on Where2Wheel.com to find additional trails around the area - W2W is free to access and use!

The last offroad trail that we are going to cover near Miami is The Picayune Strand Wildlife Management Area; this land was reclaimed by the State of Florida after the Golden Glades real estate scam of the mid-1960s and now the area is home to the densest population of Florida Panthers,  The Picayune Strand WMA is 90 miles west of Miami and the drive will take about two hours, but this WMA is a very unique place to visit.  The WMA houses many old paved roads that were part of the planned subdivision that was involved in the real estate scam, and on these old paved roads during the wet season you can water ford for miles and miles without the worry of getting stuck so long as you stay on the paved surface.  If you're looking for more offroad options that are closer to Miami than the mentioned WMAs, there are many more Jeep trails and 4x4 trails listed on Where2Wheel, but it's easier if you visit W2W and view the offroad trails map for yourself.

Lastly, feel free to create an account on Where2Wheel; it's free to use and you can find other offroaders in your area that you can hit the trails with.  If you do enjoy using W2W and want to support us, please either tell your offroading pals about the site or sign-up for a premium account, which takes ads off the map for just $2.99/month.

Thanks for reading about some of the offroad trails near Miami, Florida.  For more offroad trail information you can visit Where2Wheel or check out our Florida blog about offroad spots in FL.

Alright, we were talking about offroad trails near Orlando, Florida.  Again, last warning, we are talking about Jeep trails and 4x4 trails that are large/wide enough to fit a passenger vehicle - no ATVs or dirtbikes talked about here.  The first offroad trail near Orlando, FL is The Tosohatchee Wildlife Management Area located just 30 miles east of Orlando.  At The Tosohatchee Wildlife Management Area you will find 15 miles of forest trails on 2 loops and a powerline trail that ends at St Johns River.  All trails are packed sand, vary from soft to firm, and occasionally get washed out.  Most SUVs and even cars can handle the trails but 4X4 makes it easier.  This is more of a scenic area rather than a hard core off road area but it is a nice getaway to play around in your rig.

The next offroad trail near Orlando is The Croom Wildlife Management Area which is about 65 miles west of Orlando, FL and the drive to get there from Orlando should take you no longer than an hour and thirty minutes.

The last offroad trail near Orlando, FL that I will mention is The Richloam Wildlife Management Area located only 50 miles west of Orlando.  The drive from Orlando to Richloam should take about an hour, saving you 30 minutes versus heading to Croom WMA.

Alright, we were talking about offroad trails near Atlanta, Georgia.  Again, last warning, we are talking about Jeep trails and 4x4 trails that are large/wide enough to fit a passenger vehicle - no ATVs or dirtbikes talked about here.  The first offroad trails near Atlanta are a cluster of Jeep trails located 60 miles N of Atlanta.  These offroad trails to the north of Atlanta can be found by viewing the Where2Wheel trails map here.  There are a wide variety of Jeep trails located to the north of Atlanta, and they are all the same approximate 60 to 90 minute drive time to reach the trails.  Two 4x4 trails worthy of mention to the N of Atlanta are Tatum Lead ORV Trail and Rocky Flats OHV Trail.  There are too many offroad trails near Atlanta when looking northward to list, so just click here to view the Where2Wheel offroad trails map and you can check out the trails at your leisure.

The next offroad trail near Atlanta, GA is Durhamtown Off Road Resort located about 100 miles E of Atlanta.  Taking the I-20 can get you there in about 90 minutes from downtown Atlanta.  Durhamtown Off Road Resort is a 6,000 acre playground for everything offroad; unfortunately, their Jeep trails aren't as vast as their ATV and dirtbike trails, but there are still plenty of Jeep trails for a day of 4x4 fun.  Check Durhamtown's site here for opening times and admission costs.  Remember, you can view trail reviews and browse the offroad trails map on Where2Wheel.com at anytime - W2W is free to access and use!

The last offroad trail that we are going to cover near Atlanta is Choccolocco Mountain ORV Park located about 100 miles W of Atlanta.  Drive time from Atlanta to Choccolocco Mountain is only about an hour and forty minutes, but do remember that you will change time zones when you arrive in Jacksonville, AL.  Choccolocco Mountain is an interesting ORV Park because it is a very convenient one to visit; the ORV Park is only a five minute drive away from downtown Jacksonville where you can find hotels, restaurants, and auto parts stores.  As for the offroading at Choccolocco Mountain, you can find everything from mild to wild offroad trails, but the park's reputation is for housing some of the most extreme trails in the area if your rig is up for it.  Don't forget to check Choccolocco's site here for operating hours and cost before heading out.  Lastly,  if you're looking for more offroad options, there are many more Jeep trails and 4x4 trails listed on Where2Wheel, but it's easier if you visit W2W and view the offroad trails map for yourself.

The last offroad trail that we are going to cover near Augusta, GA is Sunnyside ATV Paradise.  Now I know the name says ATV, but Sunnyside does host "4x4 Days" (aka Jeep Invasions) on a regular basis.  So check Sunnyside's 4x4 Days schedule here to see if they are hosting a Jeep event that lines up with your calander.  Sunnyside has more than enough offroad trails to keep you busy all day, but many of the trails are on the narrow side with tree branches offering custom "trail pin striping".  So if your rig is on the newer side or has pristine paint, you might want to think twice before wheeling at Sunnyside.  Lastly,  if you're looking for more offroad options, there are many more Jeep trails and 4x4 trails listed on Where2Wheel, but it's easier if you visit W2W and view the offroad trails map for yourself.

Alright, we were talking about offroad trails near Macon, Georgia.  Again, last warning, we are talking about Jeep trails and 4x4 trails that are large/wide enough to fit a passenger vehicle - no ATVs or dirtbikes talked about here.  Okay, so here's the rundown about offroad trails near Macon, GA if you want to keep your drive within an hour of Macon, you have two options: NE or SW.  If you don't mind driving a bit further or just want to take a look at the map and see what other trails are out there, click here to view the Where2Wheel trails map.

The nearest offroad trail, or rather offroad trails, to Macon, GA is about 40 miles (45 minute drive) northeast of Macon.  This offroad spot to the northeast is an offroad park called RiverRock; RiverRock was made famous by Peterson's 4x4 magazine and the Ultimate Adventure tour that visits the best offroading spots in North America.  At RiverRock you can expect true GA wheeling, that means wooded trails, muddy hill climbs, lots of orange clay mud pits, and the occassional rock garden to play in.  RiverRock currently has their hours listed as Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, but it's best to check their site here to make sure those hours haven't changed before planning your wheeling trip.  Remember, you can view trail reviews and browse the offroad trails map on Where2Wheel.com at anytime - W2W is free to access and use!

The next closest offroad trail near Macon, GA is the Taylor County Boondocks located 50 miles SW of Macon in Butler, GA.  This is a mud park that has been featured on Trucks Gone Wild, and their park description does say that they have trail riding if mud bogging isn't your thing.  However, I'd like to hear from someone that has visited here about how much trail riding they do actually have.  Either way, if you're a mud pit kind of guy then this is the park for you.  One thing to keep in mind about Taylor County Boondocks is that it is not a family oriented park, so think twice before bringing the little ones out because it can turn into a party out at Taylor County Boondocks.  If you are curious about their operating hours and event dates, just check their site here.  Lastly,  if you're looking for more offroad options, there are many more Jeep trails and 4x4 trails listed on Where2Wheel, but it's easier if you visit W2W and view the offroad trails map for yourself.

Off road trails near Charleston, South Carolina - Jeep & 4x4 offroad trails

Want to go offroading near Charleston, South Carolina?

Where2Wheel will help you find offroad trails near you!  We exclusively cover Jeep trails, 4x4 trails, truck trails, and OHV trails.  Read along and we will point out offroad places near Charleston, SC.

Alright, we were talking about offroad trails near Charleston, South Carolina.  Again, last warning, we are talking about Jeep trails and 4x4 trails that are large/wide enough to fit a passenger vehicle - no ATVs or dirtbikes talked about here.  The first set of offroad trails near Charleston is a group of offroad trails located in the Francis Marion National Forest just a few miles north of Mt Pleasant.  These four Jeep trails NW of Charleston are: Grant Hill, Three Brothers, French Quarter Creek, and Forest Road 6309.  You can view all these trails on the Where2Wheel map by clicking here, or just click the title of any trails above to see that trail's listing on W2W.

The next offroad trail near Charleston is... Well, there really isn't much close to Chucktown besides the trails listed above.  If you are willing to drive a few hours, check out the Where2Wheel map because there are some offroad parks and various offroad trails out towards Augusta, GA.  You can view trail reviews and also browse the offroad trails map on Where2Wheel.com - W2W is free to access and use!

Since it is slim pickings for offroad trails near Charleston, SC, I would like to bring up Uwharrie in North Carolina.  The Uwharrie National Forest located 240 miles north of Charleston and the drive takes about four hours one-way.  The Uwharrie National Forest is one of the best known off-highway vehicle trail systems on the Eastern half of the United States.  Uwharrie National Forest provides the only public off-highway vehicle (OHV) or motorized trail system in the Piedmont Region of North Carolina.  The Uwharrie OHV trail system ranges from 2WD dirt roads meandering through the forest to some of the most challenging steep and rocky climbs this side of Moab, Utah.  You will see a wide range of vehicles on these trails, ranging from heavily modified ‘rock crawlers’ to stock SUVs.  On Where2Wheel, we have 10 different Uwharrie trails listed (Falls Dam, Daniel Trail, Dickey Bell Jeep Trail, SawMill, Dutch John, Slab Pile, Rocky Mount Loop, Badin Lake OHV Area, Wolf Den, and Big Creek Training Grounds); click here to view the Where2Wheel Trails map, or just click each trail title above to view the trails one at a time.

So if you are going to Uwharrie, or thinking about going, here are a few things to know.  The offroad trails within Uwharrie are all inside of the Badin Lake OHV Trail Complex.  To access The Badin Lake OHV Trail Complex, you must purchase a day pass ($5) or annual pass ($30); info on where to buy a pass can be found on the PDF here.  The Badin Lake OHV Trail Complex is open from April 1 to December 15 every year, and during that time period the trails are open 24/7.  There are some rules to know about wheeling at Badin Lake, so read here before heading out.  If you have the opportunity to wheel Uwharrie, don't miss out on this amazing trail systems since OHV areas like this are becoming fewer and fewer as government regulations on the use of public lands tighten over time.  If you would like a guided introduction to Uwharrie and/or some help improving your offroading skills, don't forget to look up the guys at Big Creek Training Grounds to assist you with anything Uwharrie related. Lastly, if you decide to hit these trails on your own then we always recommend to pack with you some type of emergency communication device (like this Spt3 Satellite Messenger) and first aid kit in the event that you get lost or injured.

Thanks for reading about some of the offroad trails near Charleston, South Carolina.  For more offroad trail information you can visit Where2Wheel or check out our South Carolina blog about offroad spots in SC.
