A trip to High Lakes to take in some petroglyphs and cut a Christmas Tree
A treck to High Lakes to look for petroglyphs created by the Martis People. The last of these people lived about 1100 years ago and are the fore runners of what we consider modern indians in several tribes of Northern CA. If there is no snow covering them, we will hike about a half mile to them. Bring rubber boots, we will be crossing a creek. This area has an abundance of Noble Fir, so there is a perfect tree waiting for you. Tree permits are $10 at the Oroville ranger station
