The Shell Rock River Greenbelt is a six mile trail that runs from Rock Falls to Nora Springs. The trail is adjacent to the Shell Rock River. The gravel trail is open year-round for hiking, biking and horseback riding and seasonally for motorized vehicle traffic (no ATVs) and snowmobiling. There is a campground in Rock Falls at the northern end of the trail. The last offroad trail near Rochester, Minnesota is Bentley Hills located 158 miles E of Rochester for a drive time of two hours and thirty-five minutes.  Bentley Hills is mostly an ATV trail system and is maintained by the Plum Creek Forestry. It is public land and there are jeeps out there all the time riding the trails as well. As long as you stay on the trails and mind the other fellow riders then nobody gets upset. This park is 2500 acres large and has over 20 miles of trails that wind through the forest. All trails are marked so please stay the trail. The trails are mostly loose sand with a few hard packed sections as well.
