I just checked dates for upcoming Starr Motors Off-road Days and they are having a poker run and wheeling on Saturday Sept. 22nd and HRJC is also hosting their annual Toys for Tots charity trail ride at Starr Motors on Saturday Nov 17th. I will get the events in the calendar with more info later.

Little area near church land hs. Not to sure if it’s legal or not but it looks like a ton a fun

Hopkins Huh, first time hearing about that spot. Looking at Google maps, there is a lot of forest area behind HS. Probably Navy property??? If you go back there, take some pics! 2 years ago

New to the area here, trying to find somewhere legal to off-road in the VB/Norfolk/Chesapeake area.

Hopkins Legal wheeling is hard to come by in the 757. You've got Carova Beach a couple hours south in the OBX, but it's nothing challenging other than some deep water crossings. Keep an eye on Starr Motors facebook page. They are a Jeep dealership in Suffolk and they have a small but fun off-road course behind the dealership. It's where a lot of the local Jeep clubs hold off-road days. I usually post on here whenever I am headed out that way. 2 years ago

Hopkins Most wheeling spots are at least a few hours away. Uwharrie, Shoe Creek, and Potts Mountain are the closest. Uwharrie and Potts are both about a 5 hour drive. I believe shoe creek is a little closer, but less challenging and is a fairly short trail. 2 years ago

xjmurr Man, I’m originally from Michigan and most places are 1-3 hours tops if you want some quality off road time. I’m going to keep an eye out for stuff stuff around. Thanks for the insight, will probably end up going out to some of these areas hopefully soon. 2 years ago

Anyone need a trussed LP Dana30 housing? It's setup to run Clayton 3 link long arms. I have the long arms too, just not the crossmember. Axle has balljoints, but no knuckles. Everything is in good condition, just needs some fresh paint. Parts looking for a good TJ or XJ to call home.

Just got done giving the XJ a once over before the day of wheelin at Starr Motors tomorrow. Had to add some trans fluid, all other fluids were good. All suspension bolts good and torqued. Should be some muddy fun!!!

Anyone else going out to Starr Motors Off-road day this Saturday??? They will have the course open, burgers and dogs on the grill, show'n'shine, and some raffle prizes. I'll be out there with the XJ

TJ I'm riding shotgun! Haha 3 years ago

Anybody looking to get in the mud locally let me know. I need to find out how capable this motor is going to be.

Hangten30 What did you swap in? I am currently deployed otherwise I would take you up. I heard Birdneck Boggers is a group that hits a pretty big mudhole if you want to look them up on FB, havent brought them over here yet unfortunately 3 years ago

Hopkins Not too many good spots to go muddin around VB anymore. I did just see some new ruts leading to a trail off Birdneck Rd across from MotorWorld. Haven't checked it out yet tho. I used to wheel back there about 10 years ago before the trail got closed. Looks like it might be open again??? 3 years ago

Anyone know of Birdneck Boggers??? They are a group on FB that claims to have a local legal place to wheel. I'd love to know some more info if anyone has any. Every trail off Birdneck Rd that I know of is far from legal...

Tmetcalf4x4 Yes. I talked to a couple people about it today and it's legal and they are there every Friday. Not sure how big it is, but local 4x4 group told me about it. Been there for years. 3 years ago

Anyone been out to Croatan National Forest near Havelock, NC? I see they have an OHV area for 4x4s, but it's not on the W2W map. Is it worth the drive?

Goins2754 Hopkins (how do I tag someone), if you look at the bottom of your linked page you'll see the info on the 4x4 trails. There are also a few YouTube videos of people wheeling down there.

I might drive down tomorrow and check it out.

Hopkins Goins2754 I just checked out the bottom of that page and it says "vehicles with wheel base less than 50 inches" so I think they are referring to UTVs. YouTube vids look like you might find some muddy roads, but they were some old vids haha 3 years ago

Everyone ready for the snow this weekend? Should be a good time to get out and spin the tires!

Did some real light mud slinging/trail riding today at Cavalier Wildlife Management Area. All of the trails are gated and closed except for one. Other than that, there are a handful of muddy areas that you can do some slinging in. I don't have mud tires for my RRS yet, though, so that's all fine by me.

VBOffRoadN Goins2754 Are you looking into mud terrains? What kind? Do they make any lifts for the Range Rover, or any way to step up your tire size? 3 years ago

Goins2754 VBOffRoadN I think I'm going to have to buy all-terrains because of my wheel size (I can't find full mud terrain tires in my size). I have 20" wheels because I have huge brakes. And the lift is something called Johnson Rods that just extend the air suspension an extra 2.5" when in off-road mode. According to their website, I should be able to run up to a 33" size tire. A guy on a LR forum recommended to me some Nitto Grappler 265/55r20s that look pretty good. 3 years ago

Just got into the VB area and looking to ride some trails or splash some mud. Anyone want to meet up for a ride? I'm not sure where to go around here.

Hopkins The closest legal spot to wheel near VB is the OBX, see Carova Beach on the Trail Map. I don't know of too much that is open for wheelin inside of City limits anymore. Although, yesterday I did see 3 Jeeps leave my neighborhood clean and return in approx 2 hours covered in mud. So there must be a new spot open around here. I'll have to keep my ear to the ground. 3 years ago

Goins2754 I found a small mudhole over on Fort Story. It was fun for a short bit just to splash some mud, but I'd like something to test all of these fancy electronics in the RRS. I was thinking about making a trip up to some the GWNF trails next week. Definitely going to Uharrie next season, though. 3 years ago
